Paul Gray – Cover Department Manager
Paul has been the Cover Department Manager for the last 13 years. He is constantly looking at new construction and design methods as well as innovative products and fabrics to keep Dolphin one step ahead of the competition.
Before this Paul spent many a year at the sharp end of a Hurricane 5.9 Catamaran in which he won the British title 5 times as well as lifting the European trophy twice. These days he is taking it easy on the family cruiser.
Jon Sturmer – Sales Manager
Jon has been sailing for over 30 years, he grew up racing dinghies in Burnham on Crouch before joining the offshore fleet. He regularly competes in local and international regattas on a variety of ‘one off’ and production boats.
Now in his 9th year at Dolphin, he has an in depth knowledge to help you plan your sail inventory and sail setting systems.

Paul Austin – South Coast Sales Manager
Paul brings along 20 years of sailmaking experience to the Dolphin Sails team. This experience allows Paul to bring detailed product knowledge of the cloths and harware options available which un turn means the customer ends up with a product that best suits their needs.
Paul has sailed for over 30 years and has been involved with many big boat sailing and racing projects across the globe. These range from Ocean Yachts to through to smaller high performance racing keel boats.
Being based on the south coast Paul is ideally situated to look after and grow Dolphin’s expanding presence in the region
Gareth Heel – Sails Production Manager
Gareth began sailing in Cadets as a youngster at Burnham-on-Crouch, after which he was in the 420 youth squad before moving on to sail Sportboats, yachts and other dinghies.
Currently he is racing his own Phantom and also a valuable crew member aboard ‘Innspirit’ the Humphreys 36.
Gareth has been sailmaking for over 18 years in various roles, making sails for dinghies right through to 100ft Superyachts. Currently he is involved heavily in building sails for the Oyster range whilst also developing a new range of dinghy race sails including the Optimist, Phantom and OK.
Ben Cooper – Senior Sailmaker
Ben started sailing from a young age in his Mirror at Manningtree, he now sails with family onboard his fathers yacht.
Ben has been sailmaking for 16 years with Dolphin. His attention to detail can be seen on most of our larger sails with the exceptionally high standard of finishing and bench work.
Jeannette Green – Sailmaker
Jeannette has been working at the Mersea Island loft for 30 years, she specialises in Spinnakers and Asymmetrics of all shapes and sizes. Taking particular enjoyment and pride in the various designs that may be required on down wind sails.
Henry Wells aka TAGS – Customer Service
Henry had his first experience of learning to sail as a youngster during his school holidays. He has sailed a number of dinghies including Mirrors, Lasers, Cherbs and squibs, currently he is racing Sportsboats and his B14.
He has been with Dolphin for 4yrs now, based at the Mersea loft and is building a wealth of sailmaking knowledge. Henry never stops and is always looking for new ideas and ways to improve the design and quality of our sails.
Monica Glenister – Customer Service
Ben Adams – Sailmaker
Ben started sailing as a young boy, crewing in a Mirror at Brightlingsea. He soon moved into Offshore yacht racing which he has continued to do in many various regattas. He is looking forward to seeing his two boys taking to the water and learn to sail.
Ben has been sailmaking with Dolphin for 13 years, he continues to make sails and specialises in off wind sails. Ben now heads up our sail valeting service.
Andy Farthing – Covermaker
Joined Dolphin in 2013, Andy has over 20 years experience of cover making. He is helping with staff training, passing on his wealth of knowledge to our new team members. Andy is always looking for new ways to improve our products and develop better manyfacturing techniques.
Angus Roberts – Cover Production Manager – Dolphin Covers Palma
Angus has been sailing since the age of 6. Prior to joining Dolphin he clocked up over 40,000 miles, both cruising and racing. He sailed on a wide variety of multihulls and and super yachts including an Open 60, Gunboat and multiple Oysters. He is able to offer our clients excellent advice based this practicle experience.
Joe Peat – Cover Department Production Manager & Covermaker
Pam Byrd – Covermaker
Started off her life with Dolphin as a sailmaker 28 years ago, but was liberated to the cover department team in 2006 – Pam’s speciality is Bimini making.
Sadie Cousins – Covermaker
Sadie started in 2011 and is a specialist in the art of making sprayhoods.
